Mrs. Gwinell Shelnutt

Mrs. Gwinell Christine Craven Shelnutt, age 74, popular food service manager for the Heard and Troup County School Systems for over 31 years, passed away on August 18, 2011 at the Heritage Health Care Center in her home town of Franklin, Georgia.

Funeral services for Mrs. Shelnutt will be conducted on Sunday, August 21, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. from the Tom Stutts and son Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Rodney Roquemore officiating. The interment will follow in the Antioch Church Cemetery. The family will receive guests at the funeral home Saturday, August 20, 2011 from 5-8 P.M.

Mrs. Shelnutt was born in Franklin, Georgia on November 28, 1936, the daughter of the late Dolphus Lee Craven and Whittie Mae Craven. She was a member of the North Point Baptist Church in Carrollton, Georgia.

Many of the Heard and Troup County students will remember the wonderful way “Miss. Gwinell” served her delicious and nutritious meals. Her hearty lunches gave children the ability to excel in school, because they were well nourished and her loving and cheery spirit brought joy to their hearts. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (David) Hilton of Carrollton, GA.; son, Randy (Doreen) Hendricks of Franklin, GA.; brother, Douglas Craven of Franklin, GA.; two grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank two very special ladies who stood by their side in their mother’s greatest time of need. Marie Noles and Ann Burson, you were her friends to the end.
