Mrs. Hazel Allen

Mrs. Hazel Odel Lucas Allen, age 95, of Franklin passed away June 26, 2021.

Her homegoing celebration will be held Tuesday June 29, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Bethel Christian Church with Rev. Mark Shelnutt officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. She will lie in state at the church from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Those serving as pall bearers will be Chris Keel, Josh Hannah, Shane Hannah, Jake Starnes, J. C. Starnes, Matt Williamson, Michael Austin Cadwell, and Richard Webb.

The family will accept guests at Stutts Funeral Home Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

Mrs. Allen was born August 29, 1925 in Heard County to the late Zach Gunn Lucas and Annie Lois Wingo Lucas.

She was married to the late Henry Ford Allen, who preceded her in death in 2013, for 67 years. She was his greatest supporter in everything he did and the true matriarch of her family.

Her relationship with her Lord and Savior always came first. She was a wonderful Christian example to all who knew and loved her and a very active member of Bethel Christian Church for 43 years. Among the many roles she served were Church Treasurer and Sunday School Teacher.

She was a people person who formed many friendships throughout the years. She loved to keep in touch with all of her friends. She also relished serving her community. She was a member emeritus of the Roanoke Pilot Club and served others as a care giver.

She dearly loved her extended family and was very proud to be a great-great-grandmother twelve times over.

Survivors include: two daughters, Sandi A. Allen of Franklin and Cynthia A. Keel of Lawrenceville. She was a beloved Memama to four grandchildren: Tina Hannah of Franklin, Chris Keel of Bethlehem, GA, Lorie Starnes of Franklin, and Melissa A. Webb (Richard) of Franklin; eleven great-grandchildren: Josh Hannah (Holly), Micheal “Shane” Hannah, Brandi Hannah, Lisa Williamson (Matt), J. C. Starnes, Jake Starnes, C. J. Starnes (Cody), Michael Austin Cadwell (Sarah), Aubree Yvonne Cadwell, LeeAnn Barrett, and River Webb (Hannah); twelve great-great-grandchildren: Kole, Hazel Dessaleigh, Aubree, Ava, Gavin, Khloe, Briar, Carter, Mason, Cora, Jamison, and Carli; and a number of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Zach Gunn Lucas and Annie Lois Wingo Lucas; her loving husband, Henry Ford Allen; son, Micheal Henry Allen; son-in-law, Jerry Keel; an infant granddaughter Taylor; three great-grandchildren, Westley Mashburn, Kayla Smith, and William “T” Smith; grandson-in-law, Tommy Smith; and two infant sisters.
