Mrs. Hellon Evans

Mrs. Hellon Olene Watts Evans, age 81, of Franklin passed away February 6, 2021.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday February 9, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Stutts Funeral Home with Bro. Kenneth Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Heard County Memorial Gardens.

The family will accept guests at Stutts Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Mrs. Evans was born December 7, 1939 in Heard County to the late Gay Watts and Bera Elizabeth Dingler Watts. She was a member of Franklin First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy D. Evans. They had been married 48 years at his passing in 2007.

She began her career in banking at the Bank of Heard County in 1967 and served as a teller and customer service specialist for more than 30 years. Her smiling face was one of many everyone saw when they visited the bank. When the transition to Regions Bank took place she stayed on until her health began to fail her.

She enjoyed working in her flower garden. She was especially proud of her roses.

Her favorite soap opera was “Days of Our Lives.” She loved to watch NASCAR on TV and root for the Earnhardts. Dale was her favorite driver.

Some her most treasured times were spent cooking and having the family over for dinner. One of her specialties was skillet fried chicken.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Kathy Evans of Franklin; two grandsons, D.J. Evans and Wesley Evans of Franklin; three sisters, LaRue Goodroe of Newnan, Sue Thompson of Hogansville, and Geneva Hand of Franklin; four brothers, Hollis Watts, Lamar Watts, and Steve Watts all of Franklin, and Doyle Watts (Cindi) of North Carolina; and a number of other relatives and friends.
