Mrs. Inez Abner

Mrs. Grace Inez Pike Abner, age 86 of Duluth, Georgia, formerly of Franklin, Georgia passed away at the Compassionate Care home in Snellville, Georgia on Saturday, October 29, 2011.

Funeral services for Mrs. Abner were conducted on Monday, October 31, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. from the Franklin United Methodist Church with the Reverends Brett Mathews, and C. Kay Fuino officiating.

Music was provided by Reverend Tom Lipham. Those serving as pallbearers were Kim Pike, Kenny Pike, Keith Pike, Stephen Pike, Tommy Pike, and John Cosper, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Pike, Dennis Pike, and Bobby Smith. The interment followed in the Franklin City Cemetery.

Mrs. Abner was born in Franklin, Georgia on May 21, 1925, the daughter of the late Issac Pike and Sarah Daniel Pike. She was a faithful member of the Franklin United Methodist Church.

Most people will remember her as one of Dr. Fisher’s nursing assistants and medical secretary. After Dr. Fisher’s death she became a member of the team for Dr. Robinson. Her care a concern for her patients was obvious by the love she shared with others and the competent way she conducted her job.

Later in her life she worked at the Heard County Housing Authority where she helped many people with a better way of life by arranging for them to have a nice place to live. She was a wonderful mother, and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Sharon Abner of Duluth, GA.; one sister and brother-in-law, Nina Jo and John Cosper of Franklin, GA.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Wayne Pike of Newnan, GA., and Charlie and Patsy Pike of Franklin, GA.; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Heather and Tim Laflamme of Smyrna, TN.; one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Chris and Rebecca Abner of Louisville, KY.; and seven great-grandchildren.

The Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home of Franklin, Georgia were in charge of arrangements.
