Mrs. Irene Dean

Mrs. Katherine Irene Williamson Dean, age 89 of Franklin, Georgia passed away on Monday, December 8, 2014 at the Hospice LaGrange in LaGrange, Georgia.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dean will be conducted on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. from the Stutts Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin, Georgia with the Reverend Lynn Janney officiating. The interment will follow in the Franklin City Cemetery.

The family will receive guests at the funeral home Tuesday evening December 9, 2014 from 6-8 P.M.

Mrs. Dean was born in Randolph County, Alabama on August 11, 1925, the daughter of the late Tampie Brown Williamson and Willie Z. Williamson. She was retired from the Heard County Department of Family and Children Services where she was a Social worker.

The lives of countless families, especially little children were made better due to her tireless effort on their behalf. Her compassion did not end with her retirement. She cared for her husband and his brother for many years and did so with a sweet and gentle spirit. She was a Christian by faith.

“Mrs. Irene” was a fun-loving person whose vivacious personality could lighten your darkest hour. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed making special meals for her family. She loved traveling to the mountains and would pick up at a moment’s notice to have a chance to view the beautiful vistas that the mountain ranges offered.

Perhaps her favorite thing in life, other than her family was dancing! Whether she was dancing herself or just a spectator, she loved it. To look at her wardrobe one would never guess that she was almost 90 years old.

She loved dressing nice, and had a passion for bright-colored shoes and pretty jewelry!  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by one daughter, Norma Jean Jennings (Charlie) of Bremen, GA.; two sons, Jackie Cannon of Glenn, GA., and Toney Cannon (Lisa) of Franklin, GA; one sister, Roxie Allen of Franklin, GA.; one brother, Hubert Williamson (Jessie Mae) of LaGrange, GA.; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, J. C. Dean.

One of my favorite people! I have known her most of my life but really got to know her they years we worked together at the Department of Family and Children services. She was loving and kind and so good to the people she worked with there but what I will remember most was her wit. Over the years I have so many times laughed and remembered funny stories about her. I know you will miss her so very much. My heart goes out to you all.
