Mrs. Joan Cantrell

Mrs. Joan Young Cantrell, age 85, of Franklin passed away June 16, 2020.

The family will gather for a private viewing at Stutts Funeral Home.

A graveside service will follow for family and friends to be held Friday June 19, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Cantrell was born May 4, 1935 in Troup County to the late Coot Gus Young and Berley Lee Ward Young.

She was retired from LaGrange Molding, where she worked on the production line.

She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and had a strong belief in the importance of tithing. It gave her great joy to teach her family about God and the blessings He has for those who love Him.

Her most precious times were spent with family. She especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She had a “green thumb” and loved to work in her garden each year. She was seldom seen without a rake or a broom in her hand. She also had a soft spot for animals. It was said she was “Mother Teresa” to the critters who came up in her yard.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Johnson (Kenny) and Roxanne Bussey; two sons, Steve Cantrell (Beth) and Rich Pike (Lisa) all of Franklin; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Cantrell; one son, Douglas Cantrell; four sisters; and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Southwest Christian Care Hospice.

Those who wish may write memorial tributes at www.stuttsfuneralhome.com.

Stutts Funeral Home of Franklin, GA in charge of arrangements.
