Mrs. Brandenburg was born July 26, 1928 in Heard County to the late Charlie White, Sr. and Mollie Belle Arrington White. She was a Baptist by faith.

She and her husband, Junior Brandenburg, ran a family nursery that was known far and wide in the area.

Hundreds of farmers and gardeners from West Georgia and East Alabama would go to their greenhouse to purchase seed, plants, and fertilizer to begin their spring gardens. They were also famous for selling exotic and rare plants, including venus flytraps. The nursery was featured numerous times in local and Atlanta newspapers.

Miss Kate was always happy to greet customers and make sure they were pleased with the excellent service she gave to everyone she met. She never met a stranger, and her personality helped the business flourish until the greenhouse closed years ago.

In her spare time, she enjoyed puzzles. She also kept a daily journal of goings on and significant events in her life. She had a deep faith in God, believed in the power of prayer, and read her Bible daily. She also enjoyed reading religious books and articles.

She had a deep love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Among the family that survive her are: one daughter, Patricia Overstreet (Bruce) of Carrollton; three sons: Terry Brandenburg (Judy) of Franklin, Donald Brandenburg (Cheryl) of Senoia, and Charles Brandenburg (Susan) of Franklin; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters: Annette Gore of Franklin and Minnie Mae Cosper of LaGrange; one brother, Junior White (Sarah) of Franklin; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Junior Brandenburg.
