Mrs. Louise Houston

Mrs. Margie Louise McCormick Houston, age 67, of Roopville (Ephesus) passed away Thursday December 8, 2016 at Tanner Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Houston will be conducted Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Stutts Funeral Home with the Revs. Jamie McCormick and Steve Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Jesus Is The Way Church Cemetery.

The family will accept guests at Stutts Funeral Home two hours prior to the service.

Mrs. Houston was born January 12, 1949 in LaGrange to the late Monroe McCormick and Ira Mae Williams McCormick. She was a member of Jesus Is The Way Church.

She had no children of her own, but cherished her nieces and nephews, who lovingly referred to her as “Auntie”. Family get-togethers were her favorite times, and she was always the center of attention.

She loved taking trips and going for a ride. Her favorite place to eat was Captain D’s, and to have her family eating with her gave her great joy.

She was a very witty character, and could carry on a conversation with anyone. This came in handy when she would call her family on the phone, which was one of her favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed watching TV and listening to music on the radio. She was even known to sing along every once in a while.

Survivors include her loving husband, Jerry Houston; two sisters, Linda Parris (Daniel) and Janelle Shadinger, both of Ephesus; three brothers, Jimmy McCormick (Oweta) of Roopville; Winford McCormick (Frances) and Howard McCormick (Nancy), both of Ephesus; sister-in-law, Velma McCormick Edwards of Ephesus; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Lee McCormick; one sister-in-law, Nancy McCormick; and one brother-in-law, Otis Shadinger.

Those who wish may write memorial tributes at

Just letting you all know that I love you all so very much. Will miss this dear sweet cousin of mine. The five girls that were born to five sisters in the same year have always had a bond. Louise was the oldest. Then me, Teresa, Linda who left us way to early, and last was Cindy. Family bond is a precious thing. We have to continue to keep in touch. Jerry
