Mrs. Mary Nell Burden

Mrs. Mary Nell Kilby Burden, age 75, of Franklin passed away and gained her heavenly reward January 21, 2019.

A memorial service for Mrs. Burden will be held Friday January 25, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Zion Community Church with Pastors Debbie Kendrick, Eli Daniel, and Reginald Coleman officiating.

The family will accept guests at Stutts Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

Mrs. Burden was born September 25, 1943 in Heard County to the late John Henry Kilby and Minnie Kelley Kilby.

She was married to the late Hughlett “Sambo” Burden for 55 years. To this union was born two children, Jennifer Lynn Burden Parks and Samuel Lee Burden.

She dedicated her life to praising the Lord and bringing His message of love to everyone she met. Every time you saw Miss Mary Nell she gave all glory to God.

She was invited to speak at many local churches and was a dynamic speaker, who always had a message of inspiration.

She attended many local churches, but was a member of Mt. Carrie Baptist Church, and considered it her home church. She also frequently attended Heaven Bound Church of God.

A true woman of God, she accepted the charge of service to her community. She often cooked meals and fed families when she heard of someone who was sick or shut-in. She offered prayers and words of encouragement to anyone who needed them.

She held a special place in her heart for her family, and especially loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Lynn Parks (Andy) of Franklin; son and daughter-in-law, Samuel Lee Burden (Debbie) of Grantville; three grandchildren, Santron De’andra Burden (Jermonique), Jemeka Lyshae Jones (David), and Shemeka Tyshae Jones (Tevin); four great-grandchildren, JaLeah Smith, Kamryn De’andra Burden, Aeriana Faith Jones, and Aryah Marie Jones; two brothers, Artie Kilby (Ethel) of Atlanta and Oscar Kilby (Afonda) of Tennessee; a special nephew, Billy Joe Burden (Debra); and a number of other relatives and friends.

    We talked awhile ago when uncle sambo died and i told you I couldn’t make it you said sambo is alright and I said Auntie Mary I will talk with you soon but only got to talk with her at Tanner Medical Center when she got sick and she ask me when haf i seen Sammy and I told her, But I said all of that to say this we need to do better and I hope we try to do so me Jennifer talked about the same thing maybe we all will try all our Elderly is gone love you all😘❤❤ Elaine Burden Bridges

MARYNELL WAS SUCH A GODLY WOMAN… I HAVE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING NEGATIVE COME OUT OF HER MOUTH… NOTHING BUT JESUS AS SHE ALWAYS WD SAY… THERE’S PEACE IN THE AIR AND IN THE HEARTS OF THE ONES SHE TOUCHED… FOR SHE HAS BEEN PROMOTED PRAISE GOD!!!!     This wonderful Woman of God had such an impact on my life as a young child. She loved the Lord wholeheartedly and let the world know it. It was a blessing to know her because to know her was to love her. Mrs. Mary Nell you’ll be truly missed by the entire community of Franklin, GA. Thank you for everything you did to help people.

    Mary Nell was such a sweet lady who truly loved the Lord. She always had a beautiful smile on her face. I know she is rejoicing now and praising the Lord she is with the Father.     Sad to hear of Minister Burdens’ passing. I remember her being a faithful servant and worshiper of God. Praying for the family.
