Mrs. Nancy Avery

Mrs. Nancy Ann Avery of Franklin, Georgia passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2012, in Carrollton.

She was 71 years old and died of natural causes at Tanner Medical Center. Mrs. Avery was born on October 23, 1940 in Birmingham, Alabama, and she grew up in California.

She was the daughter of the late Marita-Ann and Christopher Massey, and the adopted daughter of the late Helen and Judson Massey. She was Christian by faith, and she attended Caney Head United Methodist Church.

Nancy was married to Charles Avery, and they traveled the country because he served in the United States Navy. Together they had three children. She was a loving wife and mother for 52 years. Her seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren adored her.

Mrs. Avery was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Billy Massey.

Survivors include her loving husband, Charles, her children: Helen and Mike Dixson of Bowdon, Chuck and Dana Avery of Roopville, and Charlotte and Chuck Belcher of Perry, and her brothers and sisters in law: Ben and Karen Avery, Robert and Sue Avery, and Maxine Dunmire, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Tyler, Brittany, Susan, Tabitha, Autumn, Greg, Ben, Mark, Ella, Damian, and Waylon, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mrs. Avery will be on Sunday, June 24, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, at Stutts Funeral Home in Franklin.

Bo Hendon will conduct the funeral services the following day at 2:00 PM at Stutts, followed by interment at Caney Head.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are: Roger Lynn, Tyler Dixson, Mike Dixson, Randy Avery, Gabe Staples, Chuck Belcher, Bill Avery, Mark Chambers, Ben Avery, Joel Sorrells, Jack Walls, Glenn Matthews, Bill Smith, and Larry Thomas.

Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
