On Friday, November 16, 2012, Heard County Middle School will be saying goodbye to two phenomenal teachers. They have both spent many dedicated years providing a strong education for our children in Heard County, and we will miss them.
Mrs. Vinson, a 6th grade Language Arts teacher, has over 35 years of teaching experience, and has enjoyed seeing her students grow and flourish within her classroom. “Over the years, I have witnessed my students mature into wonderful adults. It is so rewarding to see them go on to have careers, families, and know that I helped to make a difference in their lives, “stated Vinson.
Mr. Roberts, the Principal of Heard Middle School, believes that Mrs. Vinson has been a vital part of the HCMS family. “Mrs. Vinson has served the students of Heard County for the past 10 years. Her students have consistently outperformed their peers throughout the state during her time at HCMS. Mrs. Vinson’s skill, ability, and experience have been an asset to our school.”
Mr. Tommy Thompson, a 7th grade Social Studies teacher at HMCS, will also be retiring. His enthusiasm and dedication for his students is well known throughout the school. “Mr. Thompson has taught students for almost 40 years. He has been active and committed to his students through teaching, coaching, and mentoring throughout his time in Heard County. His smile and sense of humor will be missed by both faculty and students,” stated Roberts.
