Mrs. Sara M. Hopson

Sara Morrow Hopson, age 80 of Whitesburg, died at Piedmont Newnan Hospital on May 11, 2016.

She was born in Franklin, Georgia on July 29, 1935 to the late Harvey Morrow and Sallie Fannie McKenzie.

Along with her parents, Mrs. Hopson is predeceased by her husband Jerry Kenneth Hopson.

She retired from Playtex after 30 years and enjoyed supporting her husband especially during the years of coaching their sons in baseball. She was also a member of Sargent Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hopson is  survived by her sons, Jeffrey Kenneth Hopson of Newnan and Harvey Jake Hopson of Franklin; daughters, Jerri Burns (Melvin) and Sally Benson (Kevin); nephew, William Edward Robards.

She is also survived by grandchildren, Randy Lower, Justin Holloway, Amanda Weeks, Jordan Davis, Samuel Smith, Brittany Hopson, Jacob Hopson and Kendall Hopson along with five great-grandchildren, Holly Davis, Cadence Holloway, Hayden Davis, Bryton Burdett and Paisley Holloway.

The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Brian Self officiating. The interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 until time of service.

Higgins Hillcrest Chapel of Newnan is in charge of the arrangements.
