Mrs. Sara Nell Toney

Hodge obit 2Sara Nell Minick Toney, 77, died peacefully at her daughter’s home in Franklin on Monday, July 13, 2015 after months of declining health.

Sara Nell is survived by her children, Lisa Toney Hodge (Stanley) of Franklin, Tina Toney Ozuna (Mike) of Seagoville, Texas and Dennis Toney of Franklin, as well as her siblings, Peggy Minick Holcomb of Franklin, Margie Minick Jackson of Franklin, and Danny Minick (Judy) of Houston, Texas.

Her seven grandchildren: Jason, Kristy, Michael, Kimberly, Cortney, Christopher and Austin, as well as her four great-grandchildren: Dailyn, Aiden, Layne and Grayson.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lendy Toney; daughter, Kathy Lynn Toney; and son, Darrell Toney.

Sara Nell was born in Franklin, Georgia on December 28, 1937 to Lou and Bessie Minick. She married Lendy Toney in 1957 and they were married for 38 years until his death, almost 20 years apart, on July 20, 1995.

She was employed at Playtex in Newnan for over 30 years until her retirement and always spoke fondly of the many friends she knew from work.

She was mostly called “Sara Nell,” but the grandkids just knew her as “Maw-Maw,” and, even though towards the end memories were cloudy for her, up until a few days before her passing hearing “Maw-Maw” would still get her to open her eyes. She was and always will be loved greatly and missed dearly.

Her daughter, Lisa, was her primary caretaker over the last couple of months as her health really started to decline and she couldn’t have been in better hands here on this Earth. We find peace now knowing that she is being held by our ultimate caretaker and will no longer know any pain or suffering.

A memorial service for Sara Nell will be held at Olive Branch Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 15th at 2:00pm with Pastor Chuck Novak officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Community Health Foundation- Affinis Hospice in Remembrance of Sara Nell Toney.

The family would like to thank Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel and Crematorium, Affinis Hospice, Wendy Bonner, Tara, Janet, and especially Cynthia Rose- you went above and beyond for our family during this time and we’ll always be grateful you were there for our mama and Maw-Maw.

Another Angel has been brought to you dear Aunt. Your Son Dennis. I hope you both know each other up in Heaven. You so loved him here on this Earth. I had all those words I just spoke but I really have no words. I just know that my Uncle Lendy, my cousin’s Darrell and Dennis are with you in Heaven. My heart is broke. But it shouldn’t be. Our Heavenly Father is taking care of all of you. And you are too. Taking care of them. You loved all your children so much. You was, after all, a Mama. Death will never change that.
