Mrs. Surlinda Poole White

Mrs. Surlinda Poole White was born June 12, 1944 in Heard County, Georgia to the late Bonner Poole and Jettie Thomas Poole.

At an early age, Surlinda confessed Christ and joined the Mt. Carrie Baptist Church.

In her early years, she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Sun Beam Club President, and Nursing Guild while working for the Lord.

She also sang with the Stateline Baptist Church Choir.

She was educated at Stateline School and later on Old Mary Johnson School.

On January 23, 1967, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Johnny Clyde White. To this union, three children were born: Suspacea, Vanessa, and Patricia.

Surlinda being the oldest of ten children, was a very hard worker with a great work ethic. She was a cook, bus driver, C. N. A., and retired from Franklin Aluminum/JAC Products after thirty-six years.

After retiring, she joined the Heard County Senior Center and enjoyed every day of her retirement. Thus, allowing her time to mission to others and her favorite pastime, “People Watching.”

Surlinda served as the Grand Matron of the Easter Star Adah Chapter # 127.

She was affectionately known as “Coot”, “Grand Mama”, “GG”, and “Big Mama.” She loved to talk and give advice.

Always quoting her grandfather, Milton “Son” Thomas and saying, “Them old folks didn’t play that stuff that’s going on now, I’m an old goat you can’t fool me. If you just listen, you can learn something.”

On Wednesday, June 24, 2020; our beloved Surlinda passed away at Piedmont Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Georgia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Suspacea White and Vanessa “Red” White; step-son, Johnny Amey; and three brothers, Hillard Poole, Reuben Poole, and Jerry Poole.

Surlinda leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband of fifty-three years, Johnny Clyde White; one daughter, Patricia L. White; one grandson, Derrick Lamar Cook; two great grandsons: Derrick “DJ” Cook and Laderius “LD” Cook; five sisters: Judy Poole Cook, Shari (Samuel) Fluellen, Brenda Poole, Edith Dunson, Junita (Revered James) Chelcy; one brother, Charles (Lorraine) Poole; aunts, Arizona Thomas Edmondson, Iramicle Fisher, Etha Thomas Hall, Annie Dora Watkins; uncles: James Thomas, Bradley Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be held at Lakes Dunson Robertson Funeral Home from 4:00-5:00 PM on Friday, June 26.

A graveside service will take place Saturday, June 27 at 1:00 PM at Stateline Baptist Church, 112 Glenn Road, Franklin.

Lakes Dunson Robertson Funeral Home of Lagrange is in charge of the arrangements.
