Mrs. Virginia Kent Laster, age 83, of Ephesus, GA passed away Saturday June 16, 2012 at Tanner Medical Center after several years of declining health.
Mrs. Laster was born September 25, 1928 in Heard County, GA to the late Joseph Erastus Kent and Nancy Alvedia Norris Kent. She was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church and was active in the Adult Sunday School Class. She loved to cook and carried food to those who were sick or in need.
Her favorite pastimes included quilting with the Ephesus Quilting Ladies and visiting the Heard County Senior Center. Before retirement, she worked in the textile industry with Baby Cloze in Franklin. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services for Mrs. Laster were conducted Tuesday June 19, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Ephesus Baptist Church with the Revs. Tony Morris and Fred Cooke officiating. Music was provided by Venita Henderson, Elaine Shipman, Lori Startup, and Will Whitaker.
Those serving as pallbearers were Greg Henderson, Floyd Rivers, Steve Daniel, Emmett Harrod, Richard Todd, and W. C. Yarbourgh. Honorary pallbearers were Clyde Cook, Wayne Prince, and Harold Janney. The interment followed in the church cemetery.
Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law: Elaine and Garry Shipman of Villa Rica, GA.; and Venita and Kenneth Henderson of Mount Zion, GA.; four grandchildren; one sister, Laverne Butler; and a number of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Render Laster, and two brothers, Leon Kent and J. T. Kent.
The Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home of Franklin Georgia were in charge of arrangements.
