Mrs. Zora Mae Kitchens Daniel Toney, age 89 of Franklin, Georgia passed away at the Piedmont Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Georgia on Thursday, December 13, 2012.
Funeral services for Mrs. Toney were conducted on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. from the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Franklin, Georgia with the Reverends Gordon Combs and Clifford Anderson officiating.
The interment followed in the church cemetery. Music was provided by Kelly and Ron Mantle. Those serving as pallbearers were Daniel Toney, Adam Toney, Jimmy Traylor, Brian Daniel, and Keith Kitchens. Honorary pallbearers were Amos Toney and Patrick Gordon.
Mrs. Toney was born in Heard County, Georgia on July 10, 1923, the daughter of the late Florence Nelms Kitchens and Homer Kitchens. She was a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, and a homemaker who loved doing for her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by one daughter, Sue and Ronnie Traylor of Hogansville, GA.; four sons, Rodney Toney of LaGrange, GA., Don and Betty Toney of Newnan, GA., Floyd and Cherry Toney of Whitesburg, GA., and Charles Toney of Newnan, GA.; two sisters: Rozelle Hogg of LaGrange, GA., and Katie Kirk of Franklin, GA.; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a number of great-great-grandchildren.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by two husbands: Rev. J.R. Toney and Rufus Daniel; four sisters: Mary Arrington, Ethel Lee Page, Marie Trammell, and Jean Gordon; and two brothers: James “Byron” Kitchens and Talmadge Kitchens.
