My Baby Daddy

[jessica]About my baby daddy- “I met a little girlie, her hair was kinda curly, went to her house to bust her out, I had to leave real early!” Between my husband singing these lyrics to me, stuffing me in the trunk of my own car, and buying me a Winnie the Pooh golf club cover, I knew he was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with! Oh and the fact that he told me he still had feelings for his previous girlfriend…wait not so much that part but it is an important part of the story.

I’d like to introduce you to the love of my life, my prince charming, the one that completes me, and my babies’ daddy a.k.a. Jonathan Wayne Holt. No his name has not been changed to protect the innocent that is actually his name.

We grew up attending the same small church for years, but because of our 7-year age difference we never really paid much attention to each other. Well at least until I was 17 and he was 24. My parents allowed us to “hang out” because they knew him and his family so well so they trusted him (if only they knew…insert evil laugh)!

I quickly fell in love and just knew that he was the boy I would spend the rest of my life with and have babies with. Jonathan had just been through a pretty ugly break up and was very open with me about the fact that he still had feelings for his previous girlfriend.

I am a very sensitive and proud person so being second choice would usually not be acceptable to me. I made an exception in this case because my feelings for him were so strong. So I waited forever for him to come around which time wise was a good couple of weeks! 🙂

My parents allowed the relationship to progress because of knowing him so long, and the fact that we spent most of our time at my house anyway. Jonathan’s family was not exactly happy about the relationship in the beginning. They had just watched Jonathan get his heart-broken and didn’t want another “young girl who didn’t know what she wanted” to do it again.

I did know what I wanted and have not nor do I plan on ever breaking his heart! We have been married 11 years and I am still waiting for his family to accept me. Just kidding! Or am I??? You will have to stay tuned for those answers.

We dated for the second half of my junior year in high school and all through my senior year. Less than a month after I graduated he proposed at the ocean and I said yes of course! We were married a year later on June 17th, 2000. I was only 19 and he was 26 and about 10 out of the 150 people at our wedding thought we would make it this long!

Well here we are 11 years later so happy and still in love with 4 beautiful children together. Oh how the years have been anything but perfect, but still we have made it through and our stronger now than ever. We have been through good and bad, had beautiful moments and ugly disasters, we have been happy and we have been heart-broken, we have been proud of each other and we have disappointed each other, we have yelled, we have cried, and we have laughed, oh how we have laughed!

One thing is for sure though we used it all to grow together as a couple. We have improved individually and as husband and wife thanks to all that we have overcome! There is nothing perfect about our marriage we just practice forgiveness on a daily basis and put God as number one in our life.

Jonathan is funny, handsome, an incredibly hard worker, and most of all he is an amazing husband and father! (He is also for sale for the right price…just teasing!) Or am I???
