New bricks available for Veterans Park

Veteran's Bricks 034(Franklin) — The American Legion Post 148 announced recently that they will once again be selling veteran bricks to be mounted in Veterans Park in the middle of the square in downtown Franklin.

The park has almost 1000 bricks in place already to honor veterans from all branches of service. The bricks are now available for $50 each which includes the brick, the engraving, and the mounting on the square.

Retired Lieutenant Colonel and Post 148 Commander Dwight Cordell stated it is important to know that anyone can buy a brick to honor any veteran who has served in any branch during United States history.

“We have bricks available for all service members whether they served in wartime or peacetime,” said Cordell. “This includes all branches of service including the National Guard and those who were involved in the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, both World Wars, Vietnam, and the Gulf Wars. We want any and all veterans to be recognized in the park,” added Cordell.

If you are interested in purchasing a brick to honor a friend or family member you may contact Frank Crook at  706-675-3942 or Colonel Cordell at 770-714-1163. To see more photos from the park visit www.facebook.com/heardcitizen.

Veterans Park is dedicated in memory and in honor of those who were called upon to put their lives on the line for our country. Let us remember not only those who died, but those who lived and came home from the wars. The great heritage and freedom we all share is because of Veteran’s service, sacrifice, and valor. Veterans We Salute You. Dedicated 2007.”
