(Franklin) — The new officers for Heard County Chapter 2589 were installed at the meeting on May 14th at the Heard County library.

The new officers are Mary Lane, President, Martha Stapler, Vice President, Marifaythe Whitley, Secretary, Selmah Bowen, Treasurer, Carla Brown, Registrar, Lela Craft, Recorder of Military Crosses, Rebecca Lawley Historian, and Hollis Crockett, Chaplain. They are looking forward to an exciting year.

Carolyn Turner, President of Friends of Brown’s Mill Battlefield Association, was the guest speaker.  She brought members up-to-date on the battlefield and shared upcoming events planned for this year.

The installation officer was Mrs. Elizabeth Camp from Newnan Chapter 599.  She installed the officers with words of wisdom for each position and then presented each new officer with roses.

After the installation the ladies were treated to a catered luncheon provided by member Marifaythe Whitley and her daughter Beverly Cotton and granddaughter Ashley Handt.

The tables were set with fine china and beautiful pink and green floral arrangements. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed the meal and the social time.  Liz Camp won the door prize and everyone in attendance went home with a Southern Belle fan!
