Newnan Woman Dies in One Vehicle Crash

A Newnan woman passed away Thursday night from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle auto accident which took place on GA Highway 34 just east of Franklin.

The Georgia Sate Patrol reports that a 1988 Jeep Wrangler being driven by Roberta Kay Stewart, age 42, from Newnan was travelling westbound at around 8 p.m. Thursday evening when her right side tires left the roadway.

According to Gordy Wright, a public information officer with the State Patrol, Ms. Stewart over corrected, causing her vehicle to re-enter the roadway rotating, before she traveled into the eastbound lane and overturned.

Ms. Stewart was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center where she passed away later in the evening from injuries sustained in the crash. Wright added that alcohol was not involved and she was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
