Our Trip to the State Special Olympics

Written by Ms. Vernon’s Class: Anthony Brand, Tim Brown, Amber Cribbs, Mikayla Dockery, Kady Patterson, Shinese Turman, Austin Noles  & Blake Timmons

Our class was invited to participate in the State Special Olympics Jan. 20–22. The Opening Ceremonies were fun. Amber and Kady carried our banner in the parade of athletes.

There was a dance after the Ceremony, we all danced and had fun. We stayed in a hotel it was great, they gave us free breakfast.

The next day we went bowling. We all tried very hard. In singles bowling Tim won the gold medal and Amber won the bronze medal!

In unified team bowling we had partners that helped us bowl. Our girls’ team won a silver medal and the other two teams placed fourth.

Ms. Vernon was proud of everybody! We spent the rest of the day at Olympic Town and then went to the movies.

On Sunday we packed our things and headed home. We stopped at I HOP for lunch and then went home. We all had so much fun; we want to go back next year!

We want to say thank you to Ms. Vernon and Mrs. Glinda Dyer for taking us; also to Mr. & Mrs. Dockery and Mrs. Kristi Houston for going with us.

Special Thanks to our partners, Andrew Loubet, Jordan Fitzgerald, Rachel Dyer, and Kaci Fowler.
