PUBLIC NOTICE

NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A NATIONAL POLLUTANT DISCHARGE ELIMINATION SYSTEM PERMIT TO DISCHARGE TREATED WASTEWATER INTO THE WATERS OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA.

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) is considering the reissuance and modification of NPDES permit for the following applicant, subject to specific pollutant limitations and special conditions:

Heard County Water Authority, Post Office Box 610, Franklin, Georgia, 30217, NPDES Permit No. GA0021148, for the water pollution control plant located on 448 South River Road in Franklin, Georgia. 0.16 MGD of treated wastewater is discharged to Chattahoochee River in the Chattahoochee River Basin with a planned expansion to 0.25 MGD.

Persons wishing to comment upon or object to the proposed determinations are invited to submit their comments in writing to the EPD address below, or via e-mail at EPDcomments@dnr.state.ga.us, no later than thirty (30) days after this notification. If you choose to e-mail your comments, please be sure to include the words “NPDES Permit reissuance – Heard County Water Authority Water Pollution Control Plant (Heard County)” at the top of the first page of comments. A public hearing may be held if the EPD Director finds a significant degree of public interest in the proposed permit.
