Qualifying for 2020 Heard County Elections (March 2-6)

Qualifying for 2020 Election

Qualifying Fee:

County Commission Chairman   $1,550.00

County Commissioner – Districts #1 and #3   $120.00

County Comm. Dist. #2 (special election)   $120.00

Sheriff   $1,410.00

Clerk of Superior Court   $1,230.00

Judge of Magistrate Court   $1,230.00

Tax Commissioner   $1,230.00

Coroner   $36.00

Judge of Probate Court   $1,230.00 (Non-Partisan Race)

Board of Education Member – Districts #2 and #4   $108.00 (Non-Partisan Race)

Qualifying will take place during the following times at the Elections and Registration Office located at the Heard County Courthouse (closed for lunch 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM):

March 2, 2020 (9:00 AM – 4:30 PM)

March 3, 2020 (8:30 AM – 4:30 PM)

March 4, 2020 (8:30 AM – 4:30 PM)

March 5, 2020 (8:30 AM – 4:30 PM)

March 6, 2020 (8:30 AM – 12:00 PM)

Representatives from the Republican Party will be present to qualify Republican candidates for all partisan offices except for the District 2 Commissioner special election.

Those wishing to qualify for the special election to fulfill the unexpired term of the District 2 Commissioner will qualify with the Elections and Registration Office.

Anyone wishing to qualify to run for office as an INDEPENDENT candidate will qualify for the General Election at the Elections and Registration Office. There are requirements that must be met to qualify as an Independent candidate. For more information, contact the Elections and Registration Office.

The qualifying fee may be paid by personal check, cashier’s check, money order or cash (exact amount only – change will not be issued).

For Republican Candidates, checks should be made payable to the Republican Party of Heard County.

For Democratic, Independent, Non-Partisan Candidates, and candidates for the District 2 special election, checks should be made payable to Heard County.

Anyone wishing to file a pauper’s petition in lieu of paying the qualifying fee should contact the Elections and Registration Office as soon as possible.

Candidates that qualify for election are responsible for filing necessary ethics paperwork with the Elections and Registration Office. Information on the required paperwork can be found on the following website:  www.ethics.ga.gov
