(Franklin) — The HES Fall Pageant was held Saturday night at Heard Elementary School, and the theme for this year’s edition of the pageant was an “Evening of Enchantment.”

The proceeds from the annual event organized by Ms. Wylene Spearman go to support the Heard County Special Olympics program. A large crowd of parents, friends, and supporters of the people filled the auditorium at HES to cheer on all 30 of the contestants.

The judges for the pageant were Ashley Griffin, T’Erica Huff, and Lisa Cummings. The event is referred to as “fall pageant” instead of a “beauty pageant” because the girls are not judged on beauty alone.

The entrants are judged in six different categories including Smile, Eye Contact, Poise, Confidence, Attire, and Overall Appearance. The totals of the three judges are combined to determine the winners.

All competitors in the contest received awards and tiaras. Four different Fall Pageant Queens were named including Tiny Miss Heard Elementary (Pre-K), Little Miss Heard Elementary (Kindergarten-1st grade), Junior Miss Heard Elementary (2nd-3rd grade), and Miss Heard Elementary (4th-5th grade).

This year’s competition also featured a brand new “Miss Photogenic” award in each category.

In the Tiny Miss Heard Elementary category, the 2015 Queen was Ms. Aubrey Emma Moreland, followed by first runner-up Ms. JoAnna Green, and second runner-up Ms. Aubrey Huey. Moreland was crowned by 2014 Little Miss Heard Elementary Ms. Trinitee Owens.

In the Little Miss Heard Elementary category, the 2015 Queen was awarded to Ms. Keona White, followed by first runner-up Ms. Emily Skinner, and second runner-up Ms. Emma Grace Beers.

Keona was also the first runner up in the 2014 Tiny Miss Snowflake Pageant.

The Miss Photogenic winner in this category was Ms. Kinsley Brown.

Ms. Ariauna Brice was crowned as Junior Miss Heard Elementary Saturday night. This was the fourth consecutive year that Ariauna has placed at the pageant and her second time as queen. She won Tiny Miss HES in 2012.

First runner-up was Ms. Kanaria Makayla Pless and second runner-up was Ms. Pamela Vasquez. Ms. Brayleigh Spradlin was named Miss Photogenic.

The judges had an extra difficult time in the Junior Miss category as all of the girls had to appear onstage two times in order to break a tie.

In the oldest age group, Ms. Daisy Steen was crowned as the 2015 Miss Heard Elementary. Steen was second runner-up in the same category last year and she was also the winner of the 2014 Junior Miss Snowflake pageant.

First runner-up went to Ms. Logan Dawson while second runner-up went to Ms. Ally Huey. Dawson was the Junior Miss HES winner in 2012. Miss Photogenic went to Destanee Massie.

“I would like to give special thanks to all of our sponsors, parents, judges, volunteers, and everyone else who helped with this year’s Fall Pageant,” said Spearman at the end of the night.

“We were lucky to have the opportunity to raise money for our Special Olympics program right here in Heard County.”

This year’s top finishers also earned the chance to participate in this Thursday’s Heard High School homecoming parade through downtown Franklin. The parade begins at 4:30 p.m.
