Re-Elect Dianne Watson Heard County Tax Commissioner

Heard County Citizens:

Time is drawing near to election time and I wanted to thank you for allowing me to serve as your Tax Commissioner.

Heard County is my home — I have always loved living here and most of all I love the kind and friendly people that live in this county. I do not think I could pick up and leave or move out of this county.

I would like to tell you why I  am still your best choice for Tax Commissioner.

I have 23 years’ Experience in the tax office. I started as a clerk, then moved up to Deputy Tax Commissioner and now Tax Commissioner. I have worked hard to be in this position.

Sandra Nolen and I worked together until she retired. She has always been a wonderful boss but also a dear friend. She has given me her full support in this campaign, and I so appreciate her.

For the last two years I have been voted by the Tax Commissioners of our district to be their District leader. The district includes: Heard, Carroll, Douglas, Haralson, Paulding, Poke and Fayette Counties. I am thankful and honored to serve them as well as Heard County.

I also had the privilege of being interviewed and published in an Atlanta magazine (Voyage Atlanta) which told my story of the climb up the ladder to get to where I am today.

We have undergone a lot of changes over the last couple of years in the office with a new Motor Vehicle system, the state removed the old one known as GRATIS, so if you have not worked in the office in the last year you’re totally lost as to how to go about processing motor vehicles.

I would like to address some things I have heard so you know why it was done.

When we moved to the new Administration Building we started closing from 12:00-1:00 PM for lunch because all the offices in the building close at that time and it would put our customers and employees at a much higher risk if we were the only office open during that time. I thought the safety of our customers and employees to be the highest priority.

We have closed at 4:45 for more than four years so this is nothing new. If you have tried to leave a message and did not get a returned phone call its because I did not get it. We have had trouble with our phone system ever since it was installed. We have been told this would be addressed, but it has not happened yet.

I apologize to you for any inconvenience this has caused. I always do my best to return phone calls.

As Tax Commissioner I am bound by Georgia Law and I sometimes cannot do what is asked of me.

The laws were very relaxed in the past, but it is no longer that way. I try to help every customer as best as I can.

To have a successful office is not what you think you know but what you do know that makes all the difference. In this office you must be consistent and able to adapt to change. You also need the will to prepare and be a leader.

I am running my campaign on my own hard work, merit and accomplishments, so I do not have time to try and discredit others.

My pledge to the people of Heard County is to continue serving you with Integrity and respect, and with the knowledge and experience I have gained over the many years of working in this office.

Again, my door is always open if you have questions or concerns — I will be glad to help in any way possible.

THANK YOU HEARD COUNTY!  EXPERIENCE MATTERS!

Sincerely,

Dianne Watson

Heard County Tax Commissioner
