Recreation Week 2 Round-Up: 10U Braves both move to 2-0

10U Maroon Braves 34, Carroll County Maroon 0

Beauty Pageant HES 009(Franklin) — Cain Dean’s 10U Maroon squad moved to 2-0 on the season Saturday with a 34-0 trouncing of the Carroll County Maroon team at the Heard County Sports Complex.

The Braves jumped out to a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter on touchdown runs by Tae Gray and Ashton Bonner and never looked back. In the second quarter, Logan Patterson scampered in for another score and a 21-0 lead.

Gray added two more scores in the rout including a 46-yard run just before the half. Noah Cantrell had an extra point conversion and played well on defense all day. Lance Skinner recovered a fumble in the second half and Ethan May made a huge stop for a loss.

Dean was pleased with his team’s showing. “This was a perfect game for us, a dominating performance brother.,” said Dean. “I got to play everybody which is what I always hope to do. We have a tough one coming up next week against Villa Rica Purple so we will have to be ready.” Dean’s squad travels to Villa Rica Purple this Saturday at 2:30 pm.

8U Black Braves 26, Tallapoosa 0 

(Buchanan, GA) — The 8U Black Braves coached by Josh Parmer traveled to the Haralson County Recreation Department where they crushed Tallapoosa 26-0 in a game called at the half because of the weather.

Mason Bailey, Will Walker, Todd Huey, Jr., Sammy Holiday, and Camden Cosper anchored a monster defensive effort allowing no yards to the Tallapoosa team.

Offensively, Huey, Jr. scored two touchdowns and Tyler Lasseter had one. Bailey and Slade Parmer added extra point conversions. The 8U Black Braves are 2-0 on the year and will host Carrollton Trojan White this Saturday at 12:30 pm.

10U Black Braves 45, Mt. Zion 0

(Mt. Zion, GA) — Sammy Marsh’s team continued to put up big numbers and performances on both sides of the ball shutting out an opponent for the second straight week. The Braves drubbed the Eagles 45-0 and have now won both their games this season by a combined total of 84-0.

Leroy Marsh scored the first TD of the game and Ayden Cannon picked up a fumble, returned a kickoff, and ran the ball in for three touchdowns. Jaxon Dennis had two TD runs and Drew Cornelius booted three extra points through the uprights in four attempts. Marsh’s squad will host Carrollton Silver Saturday at home (2:00 pm).

6U Black Flag Braves 45, Mt. Zion 26

(Franklin) — Coach Casey Barnes and the Black Braves won their first game of the season 45-26 over Mt. Zion evening their season record at 1-1. Armari Emory, Hanley McCosh, Shaun Lacey, and Gaige Whitley had touchdowns. Jay Barnes crossed the goal line for an extra point.

The 6U Black Braves return to action in two weeks versus the Heard County 6U Maroon team in a Flag Civil War at 10:00 am.

Carroll County Maroon 27, 12 U Braves 0

(Franklin) — Coach Wright’s team fell 27-0 to the Lions. Gerrin Holley made his first start at QB, starting in the place of Collin Wright who left game one of the season with a broken arm. The 12U Braves travel to Bremen this week (4:30).

Haralson County 20, 8U Maroon Braves 13

(Buchanan, GA) — Coach Googe’s squad moves to 0-2 on the season. The 8U Braves will be at home this week versus Carroll County white at 11:00 am.


  1. I don’t know where you got your info but the 9 and 10 Villa Rica Purple Wildcats have no one on the team over 200#.
