8u Maroon Braves 35, Carroll County White 0
(Franklin) — Scott Googe’s 8U Maroon Braves (1-2) entered the win column in a big way Saturday when they trounced Carroll County White (1-2) by a final score of 35-0 at the Heard County Sports Complex.
Offensively, Jonathan Echols led the way with three touchdowns and Jonathan Lacey was right there with two scores and three extra point conversions. Will Alford also converted two extra points for the Braves.
On defense, Tommy Googe caused three fumbles and recovered one as the Braves shut down the Lions all day long.
The 8U Maroon Braves will look to even their record this Saturday when they travel to Carrollton to take on Trojan Silver (10:00 am).
10U Black Braves 14, Trojan Silver 6
(Franklin) — Coach Sammy Marsh and the 10U Black Braves are the lone remaining unbeaten team at HCPR after they got a close win over Trojan Silver at home Saturday.
Quarterback Leroy Marsh connected with Kahlil Cofield on a touchdown pass and Ayden Cannon scored on a long run for the Braves. Bo Hazel got a big fumble recovery late in the game to stop a Trojan drive.
The Braves recovered a Drew Cornelius onside kick to maintain crucial possession of the ball in the waning moments of the game. The 10U Black Braves travel to Temple this week (11:00 am).
Villa Rica Purple 28, 10U Maroon Braves 8
(Villa Rica, GA) — Cain Dean’s squad battled hard against the huge and talented Villa Rica Purple (1-0), but ultimately were no match for the team that boasted three 200+ pound players.
The Braves (2-1) started with a bang early on as Brent Hull intercepted a pass after Kayden “Wildman” Minix and Cody Hand put huge pressure on the quarterback.
Tae Gray put the Braves on the board in the third quarter with a 43-yard TD run. Hayden McCosh added the two-point conversion on a kick.
The 10U Maroon Braves host Haralson County this week at 11:00 a.m. at the Sports Complex.
Trojan White 12, 8U Black Braves 2
(Franklin) — Coach Parmer and the Braves (2-1) were unable to get much going offensively as they fell to the Carrollton White (2-1) squad by a final score of 12-2 for their first loss of the season. They will look to bounce back against Trojan Gold Saturday at Carrollton (11:00).
Blue Devils 36, 12U Braves 0
(Bremen, GA) — The 12U Braves (0-3) coached by Shane Wright continued to struggle dropping a 36-0 tilt with the Blue Devils (3-1). They continue to look for their first win this Saturday when they host Trojan Gold at 12:30 in Franklin.
Tiny Braves Civil War
(Franklin) — The two flag teams coached by Danny Prichard and Casey Barnes will face one another in a “Tiny Brave Civil War” this Saturday at the Sports Complex at 10:00 a.m.
