Recreation Week 3 Round-Up: Tae Gray Goes All the Way

(Franklin,Ga) – Coach Cain Dean’s 8-under Braves squad got a big win Saturday over the Trojan Red team at the Heard County Sports Complex thanks mostly to the ferocious running of tailback Tae Gray.

Gray busted loose for six touchdowns Saturday including four in the second half to lead his team to a 48-20 victory and he also made several big defensive plays including stopping what appeared to be an long Trojan Red touchdown with a nice tackle at the 1-yard line.

Gray now owns 10 touchdowns in only two games played. The Braves other touchdown came on a run from Jameer Cook.

The Braves were also able to execute the majority of it’s extra point conversions thanks mostly to Amare Hall who scored several of them.

In the fourth quarter Cody Hand made a huge stop in the backfield on a 4th down play that was pivotal in securing the win.

These Braves are now 2-0 and will be back in action next week when they travel to play the Villa Rica Black  in Villa Rica (11:30am).


11-12 Braves 44, Red Devils 22  (Franklin) – After suffering heartbreaking losses the last two weeks Coach Head’s team got a big first win versus the Tallapoosa Red Devils by a final score of 44-22. Quarterback Brian Jones led the offense by throwing four touchdown passes including two to Dekari Brewer and one each to Austin Quillen and Davey Raines.

Quillen also added two other rushing TD’s and appeared to be very healthy after suffering bruised ribs in last week’s game.The offensive highlight of the game was a nice 80-yard run by Jaden Moreland. The defense was led by Chunky “He weighs 65 pounds but plays like he weighs 150 pounds” Hannah and A.J. Head who grabbed a big 2nd half interception to seal the win. Coach Head’s team will be back at home next week to take on Ranburne at 1:00pm.

9-10 Braves (Yates) 19, Trojan Blue 0  (Franklin) – Coach Brad Yates and his 9-10 team had no trouble continuing their domination theme this year as they shut down the Trojan Blue team 19-0. Yates connected early on a long touchdown pass to P.J. Cofield to put the Braves on top to stay and they never looked back.


5-6 Flag Braves 32, Bowdon 12 (Franklin) – The flag Braves got a big win over Bowdon (#1) behind a big effort from Camden Cosper who scored three touchdowns. Todd Huey, Jr. was right behind him with two touchdowns and extra points were scored by Will Alford and Adam Moorehead. Up front the blockers did a great job and the defense was pulling flags all over the place to lead the charge in the 32-12 win. The flag Braves will meet Bremen White on the road next week at 11:00am. (Info courtesy of Rhiannon Candler)


Trojan Orange 18, Braves (Marsh) 6 (Carrollton) – The 9-10 #2 team coached by Sammy Marsh lost a tough game at the Trojan Orange 18-6. The Braves were led by Leroy Marsh on offense and Bo Hazel on defense. (Info courtesy of Trina Hannah)
