Registrar’s Office Reaching Out to Military and Overseas Voters

Vote 2016(Franklin) — Voting is one of our most sacred rights as citizens.

Members of the armed forces, their spouses, and US citizens living or working overseas are often unaware that they can vote in federal, state and local elections wherever they are located.

The State of Georgia offers these voters the opportunity to receive an absentee ballot electronically by a link sent by e-mail.

The voter prints out their ballot and necessary documents, then mails everything back to the Registrar’s Office.

If you know someone from Heard County who is currently serving in the military, is a US citizen living or working overseas, or is a spouse of either, and is interested in applying for an absentee ballot, refer them to the Federal Voting Assistance Program website at www.fvap.gov.

Here they can register to vote and apply for an absentee ballot at the same time.
