The Republican Party of Heard County hosted a “Meet and Greet” event on Saturday July 21 at the community center in Franklin.
Over 20 candidates were on hand including those vying for local positions as well as those contesting state/district seats. A barbecue lunch was provided for those in attendance.
The informal setting allowed voters to mingle and chat privately with candidates. Guests were also allowed to participate in a straw poll ballot for all races. Results were later posted to the Heard GOP Facebook page.
First vice chairman of the Heard GOP Brannon Gray estimated that 75-100 people attended the event. Heard GOP Chariman Don Mironov issued the following statement after the function:
The Republican Party of Heard County would like to extend a warm thank you to members of the public who attended our recent July 21st Meet the Candidates event held at the Franklin Community Center, to the City of Franklin for providing use of the building, as well as to all candidates, participants, and Ricky McDonald, of Big Daddy’s Barbecue, who provided the food for the event. If you enjoyed and benefited from this informal Meet the Candidate event we invite you to attend our monthly meetings, consider joining a Precinct Committee, and becoming a contributory member of our community in whatever way you find appropriate. With your help and participation we look forward to providing many future activities and events of benefit to the citizens of Heard County.~Don Mironov, Heard Republican Party Chairman
