Rivers Pools back in business

A family business that originally started over 40 years ago is re-starting in 2013 with the return of Rivers Pools. Brothers Carlton and Keith Rivers, and Keith’s son Adam are back in business, actively working on their first pool in ten years, with plans to reestablish this area’s largest and most respected pool company.

Their father, Floyd Rivers, started Rivers Pools in 1972. Carlton, Keith, and brother Lemuel all worked beside their father, and in 1986 Carlton opened a retail pool supply store on Newnan Road in Carrollton. Ten years later that expanded into Rivers Home Concepts located on the Carrollton-Villa Rica Highway near the triangle.

rivers kidsCarlton accepted a call to the ministry and sold his business, but with coaxing from friends and family, he recently decided to get back to his family roots. He will continue to serve as the volunteer pastor for Grace Café Church, located in the Lake Carroll Mall (near Big Lots).

Carlton stated, “Getting back into the pool business is very exciting. I look forward to the opportunity to meet new people and re-acquaint with former customers. I’ve always enjoyed the challenge of providing excellent customer service and the highest quality pools on the market.”

Carlton plans to scale up the business over time, with an emphasis on each currently active construction project, and not taking on more than can be managed with attention to detail. The company will specialize in poured concrete wall pools, which offer many advantages over steel-wall pools.

Other options include poolside spas, waterfalls, specialized concrete finishes, and other landscaping features to assure that each pool is customized to homeowners’ individual tastes, with the understanding that everyone is always working on a budget.

“In this very busy society, family time is being eroded with life’s responsibilities and pressures. Our mission at Rivers Pools is to assist families in making memories in their backyard. Swimming pools are great for entertaining, exercise, keeping the kids around the house, and for making family memories,” Carlton exclaimed.

The first “new” Rivers Pool project is already underway for Carlton’s high school classmate Bruce Gore. “I’ve known Carlton for 40 years, and when I decided to put in a pool, I got in touch with him even though he wasn’t doing pools anymore,” Gore said. “My backyard includes a small stream that could present a problem, and I wanted someone I could trust to give me advice. I’ve had the Rivers family build two pools for me at prior houses, and both times I was really happy with the results. My daughters always enjoyed swimming, and now I have grandchildren coming along and decided it’s time to give them the same opportunity.”

But the more we talked, the more I knew I wanted Carlton to actually build my pool. He and Keith have the experience and I know I’ll get a really nice quality pool at a competitive price.  That’s the Rivers tradition.”

Carlton plans to start out with the construction side of the business and a part-time home-based retail business. In the future, he plans to have a retail store in Carrollton. In April, he will be offering above ground pools, the Omni chemical line, computerized water testing, parts, and supplies. Carlton stated, “Due to us working out of our home, we will be open limited hours and by appointment. However, the lower price and excellent service will be worth this small inconvenience.”

Carlton will be operating out of his home on Highway 5 near Roopville. He can be reached at 770-262-8486, info@riverspools.com, or facebook.com/riverspools. A web site is coming soon at www.riverspools.com.
