Heard Athletic Director Joel Rogers presents the Region 5-AA MVP plaque to Aaliyah Rutledge

Lady Braves senior center, Aaliyah Rutledge, was named the Region 5-AA Most Valuable Player by the region coaches after the championship game Friday night.

It was quite an honor for Rutledge considering the amount of talented girls in Region 5-AA. Rutledge, the only senior on the team was instrumental this season in leading the Lady Braves to a 22-3 record, the first region championship in the last 10 years, and a #1 seed in the GHSA State Playoffs which begin this Friday night vs. the Decatur Bulldogs.

Junior Reece Walker was also named as a first team all-region player. Making the second team were junior Jasmine Cook and sophomore Jemeka Parks.

For the boys team, sophomore small forward Jonathon Hunt and freshman point guard Duranta Dunson were named to the second team all-region. Jordan’s Jeff Blanton was rewarded as the boys Region 5-AA Most Valuable Player.
