UPDATE: Escaped Carroll Co. Inmate Captured in Bremen

UPDATE: Casey Summerville is back in custody after two days on the run. He was captured in Bremen Wednesday by the U.S. Marshal’s Service Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force, which was acting on a tip.

(Roopville, GA) — A search was still in progress Tuesday night for an escaped Carroll County inmate who fled late Monday afternoon into the woods just inside the Heard County line near Roopville.

18-year-old Casey Delerenzo Summerville was incarcerated in Carroll County on five counts of Arson and one felony count of Theft By Taking.

Summerville escaped from investigators who had brought him into Heard County to recover stolen property, authorities said.

“We received several tips throughout the day (on Tuesday) where he had been spotted in the area of Roopville,” Capt. Jeff Richards of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office told the Times-Georgian.

“At one point an off-duty deputy who was shopping at a local store encountered Summerville and he fled on foot into a wooded area.”

Authorities believe Summerville is still in the Roopville area and has now obtained fresh clothing and may be wearing a white painter’s shirt with white pants.

Investigators believe he is seeking a ride out of town.

Heard County arrest reports indicate that Summerville was a resident of Heard County in 2014 when he was arrested on a drug possession charge.

Anyone with information on Casey Summerville’s location are asked to contact C.C.S.O. Investigator Jimmy Adams at 770-830-5915 or call 911.
