(Franklin) — On Monday, the City of Franklin Community Center was filled with Senior Citizens that came to enjoy entertainment and learn about the growing problem of identity theft.
The Senior Citizen Scam Jam consisted of two hours of nonstop activities and speakers from Southern Crescent Area on Aging, Certus Bank, Regions Bank, Hayes Computer Services, and Franklin Police Department.
The purpose of this program was to provide information regarding how to avoid becoming a victim of identity theft and reporting procedures, if you do become a victim.
This relaxed learning environment provided enough time for citizens to ask questions and provide their own personal experiences with identity theft.
“We were very pleased with the amount of citizens that attended this event and after the program I had an opportunity to speak with several of them who felt that the information was extremely beneficial. We look forward to enhancing this program and continuing it in the future,” stated Chief Kevin Hannah of the Franklin Police Department.
