Senior Jared McCullough sparked the Braves in the 9-8 win over the Bulldogs at the plate, in the field, and on the mound.
(Ranburne, AL) — Senior Jared McCullough contributed heavily in all three phases of the game Friday night as the Braves held on to defeat the Ranburne Bulldogs 9-8 in an exciting game where the Braves led big early but the Bulldogs battled back late.
Dakota Christopher started the game on the mound and picked up the win. He pitched well allowing three earned runs in four plus innings of work.
The Braves entered the bottom of the fifth leading 8-1 before the Bulldogs stormed back with three runs in the fifth and four runs in the sixth to make it a one run game.
McCullough was three for four at the plate with three big RBI’s and also came through with several big plays defensively.
To top off his big day, the senior came to the mound in the last two innings to get the save with the game ending with the Braves infield turning a Spencer Hannah to Drew Wulff To Zack Stephens double play.
Freshman Lee Kay also continued to play extremely well notching three hits including a single, a double, and a triple with three runs scored and an RBI.
Christopher, Wulff, and Taylor Smith also each had two hits. Stephens had two RBI’s.
It was an important momentum game for the Braves who will return home for a huge Region 5-AA contest with Bremen on Tuesday at 5:30. The Blue Devils enter the game undefeated and winners of 21 straight games.
