Service Academy Day to be held April 30

(Washington, D.C.) — On Saturday, April 30, 2016, Representative Lynn Westmoreland will join U.S. Senator Isakson and the members of Georgia’s Congressional Delegation in holding the annual Service Academy Day at Dobbins Air Reserve Base from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Guests may arrive as early as 9:00 a.m. in order to avoid congestion at the entrance gate and visit information tables.

The annual event, which is the largest of its kind in the country, is an opportunity for high school students to learn more about the application and nomination process for the nation’s service academies.

Representatives from all five service academies will give presentations regarding their requirements and expectations for admittance. Students are required to register for Academy Day by Friday, April 22, 2016, at 5:00pm.

“For over ten years, it has been a great honor to nominate students from Georgia’s Third Congressional District to our nation’s prestigious service academies,” stated Westmoreland.

“I encourage any student interested in applying to a service academy to attend Service Academy Day and learn more about each academy, the nomination process, and how this decision can positively shape their future.

“Georgia has a rich military history and plays a huge role in protecting our country today, and I could not be more proud of the past and present academy appointees who have been a part of it.  And on April 30th at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, I look forward to meeting our future service men and women at Service Academy Day.”
