  • It is now the fastest growing criminal business in the world following the drug trade.

  • It is especially devastating because it often targets women and ca4ee17_a5d2fc22f2194392bc34b4763a9e5e9children.

The United Nations estimates nearly 2.5 million people from 127 different countries are trafficked each year. Although the statistics are difficult to verify, it is believed that between one million and 1.5 million children are trafficked each year.

This situation not only is heartbreaking but unacceptable. We are asking you to join us to fight this evil. By praying, by speaking out, by volunteering your time and talent, and giving generously, you can make a difference.

Children are often the most vulnerable victims of trafficking.  Age is not a qualifier. Both small children and teenagers are often tricked, coerced, or sold into prostitution, pornography, or forced labor.

Many are transported across borders into the global sex trade and are never again reunited with their families. Child prostitution is especially heinous because the traumatic experiences these children endure often require a lifetime of counseling and healing.

Estimates say that there are 27 million slaves in the world today. And some report that every year over one million children are trafficked worldwide. There’s a problem with statistics like this. They dehumanize the issue.

When girls are born in brothels, they have little chance of escaping a life of abuse and violence.  We rescue girls as young as three from brothels, providing them a safe home, education, nurture and the love of Christ. We rescue these girls and help them heal so they can live healthy lives in a supportive environment. It also opens up witnessing opportunities to the girl’s mothers, who can see the love of Christ in their daughters’ lives. Through this process, we are reversing a cycle of destruction.

As the girls heal from abuse, they often have a desire to give back to the community as teachers and educators. As this program grows, more girls will be given new opportunities and new lives.

In our work with trafficked and exploited children, we’ve never met a statistic. We’ve only met children-children who have suffered needlessly.  Certain natural and economic disasters may be inevitable. We cannot prevent earthquakes and tsunamis. We cannot prevent droughts or floods. And we may not be able to end world hunger.

But we do know this: No child has to be raped. No child has to be sold into prostitution. No child should be made to be someone’s slave. No child should be victimized like this.

There are 27 million slaves in the world today. And over one million children will be trafficked this year. And then there is you-an individual who can make a difference. Be numbered among those who are helping children to live free lives. Be someone who counts for these children.

Set Them Free’s motto is “Every Child deserves to be free, No child deserves to be a slave.” We help trafficked children wherever we can reach them. And with your help, we can reach even more.

We believe it is urgent to add additional teams of high quality individuals, churches and corporations to lend their expertise, talent and financial resources to free as many children as possible, this hideous crime must end.
