Single-vehicle crash injures three

Heard County Fire and EMS crews at the scene of Friday’s single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Welcome Rd. and  Roosterville Rd.

(Franklin, GA) — Three people were injured in a Friday afternoon crash in northern Heard County.

According to reports by the Georgia State Patrol, the single-vehicle crash occurred around 12:48 p.m. at the intersection of Welcome Road and Roosterville Road.

Reports indicate a 2010 Ford Fusion was traveling westbound on Welcome Road, when the driver failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of Roosterville Road.

The vehicle continued to travel through the intersection across both lanes of Roosterville Road off the west shoulder of the roadway, striking a grouping of small trees and an embankment.

The driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Austin Alexander McIntyre of Bowdon was critically injured and airlifted via Air Life helicopter to Grady Hospital in Atlanta.

The front seat passenger, Emily Nicole Harris, 19, of Franklin, was also airlifted to Grady Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. She suffered a broken sternum and other scrapes and bruises, but was released from Grady on Saturday.

The backseat passenger, Mason Lanier Hall, 20, of Carrollton, was injured and transported by ambulance to Tanner Medical Center where he was later released.

The driver was charged with Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign and DUI.
