Sophomore Lady Brave Stays Hot

(Temple, GA) — The Lady Braves softball team moved to 3-0 in Region 5-AA Thursday in Temple where they blasted the Lady Tigers 21-0 in three innings.

The story of the game was again sophomore third baseman Hannah Sanders who continued her power surge with two three-run homers. Sanders has now hit seven long balls on the season with six of them coming during the last five games.

The Lady Brave record for home runs in a season is held by senior shortstop Cali Harrod who hit eight during her sophomore year in 2012.

Jordan Watson also continued her own offensive surge with a three-run blast of her own. After competing  for three straight days, Coach Hornsby’s squad will get some much-needed rest heading into the last three games of the regular season next week.

The Lady Braves host the top ranked team in Class AAA, the Central Lady Lions on Monday at home (5:30) as they look for revenge after a close 2-1 loss earlier this season in Carrollton.

The girls then travel to Manchester on Thursday before a huge senior night home finale versus Bremen on Thursday that will likely decide the location of the upcoming Region 5-AA tournament.

The Lady Braves are currently ranked #3 in the state in Class AA behind Gordon Lee and Harlem.
