Special Election Scheduled for March 16, 2021

(Franklin, GA) — The Heard County School Board has requested that a referendum be held to approve an extension to the education sales tax (known as ESPLOST).

This will not be a new tax, only a continuation of the current penny sales tax that helps pay for capital projects and resource materials for our schools.

This referendum will be held March 16, 2021.

All precincts will be open that day from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM.

In addition, there will be three weeks of Early Voting that will take place as follows:

February 22 – 26: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

March 1 – 5: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

March 8 – 12: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Early Voting will take place in the Elections Office on the bottom floor of the Courthouse.

Please note that Saturday Voting is not required for local Special Elections.

The City of Franklin has called a Special Election to fill the unexpired term of City Council Post #5, Clifford Jiles, who resigned.

This Special Election will be held in conjunction with the ESPLOST referendum. Voters who live in the City of Franklin will receive a ballot that contains both races on the same ballot.
