(Atlanta, GA) — The Heard County Brave State Championship football team visited the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta on Thursday, February 7 where they were recognized and commended for the outstanding accomplishment of winning the GHSA Class AA football title at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in December.

House Resolution 46 was introduced by Mr. Randy Nix, Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives for the 69th district. This district encompasses parts of Carroll County, Heard County, and Troup County.

Rep. Nix recognized the coaches and team members in attendance before introducing Brave head coach Tim Barron who addressed the legislative assembly and thanked them for the tremendous honor. Nix talked about what the moment meant to the small community and Barron.

Barron also spoke about the fact that literally one-third of the Heard County High School student population plays a part to create “Friday Nights in Franklin.”

Four Brave players were able to join Barron at the podium: Andrew Leak, Aaron Beasley, David Urquilla, and Zaylin Wood.

The team took several photos at the Capitol and then enjoyed lunch at the Varsity before returning to Franklin. See the video of the special event below.
