Stolen car recovered from West Point Lake

(Troup County, GA) — Thursday evening at around 6:00 PM deputies with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Glass Bridge Park at the boat ramp where a boater had spotted what appeared to be a submerged vehicle.

Once on the scene, an unknown type vehicle was seen approximately 30 feet from the edge of the boat ramp completely under water.

Friday morning, divers with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office attached a cable from a tow truck to the vehicle and it is was pulled to shore.

Investigators were able to run the VIN off the car and it was determined to be a 2012 Mitsubishi Galant that was reported stolen in March of 2013 with the Valley, AL Police Department.

Valley Police were notified of the recovered vehicle and it was removed from the location.
