Senior Jordan Watson had seven of her nine points in the first.

“This was a big win for us a against a really good higher classification team,” said coach Helen Akins after the game. “We watched film on them and knew they were going to be tough and our girls came out of the gate and just followed the game plan and executed what we needed to do — I couldn’t be more proud of them.”

The Lady Braves (4-3) led 27-13 at halftime and fended off a late rally by the Lady Tigers (3-3), who closed the lead to just seven with 2:34 to play in the game.

Senior Madison Whitehead led all scorers with 21 including 10 in a fourth quarter where she was 4-for-5 from the free throw line.

Whitehead had her best game of the season despite being very ill. “She has been playing sick for a week, but Madi is the type of kid that never wants to come out,” Akins said. “She actually did want to come out once tonight which shows just how bad she was feeling though. Madi is just a baller.”
