‘Summer in the South’ tour kicks off in Ephesus on May 27

(Ephesus, GA) — Ephesus will be the location for a country music concert this Memorial Day weekend featuring local up-and-coming country talent Charles Hudgins as well as two other local musicians, Josh Purgason and Chase Tibbits.

The family friendly ‘Summer in the South’ kickoff tour event will take place on Saturday, May 27th at Hoyt Rogers Field in Ephesus.

Tickets for the show are only $5 (12 and under FREE) and the event will feature not only live music but raffles, concessions, a bouncy house for the children and ice cream.

Hudgins was raised locally and attended Heard County Schools. He first picked up a guitar when he was a teenager and wrote his first song when he was 16 years old.

Hudgins PhotoThe 30-year-old only began playing live music a few years ago and received some big market exposure last year on Atlanta’s 94.9 ‘The Bull’ Backyard Country program.

Hudgins is also a Kicks 101.5 ‘Nash Next’ semi-finalist, and signed his first song publishing deal in September of 2016.

After he had recorded over 40 songs by 2014, Hudgins decided to change his genre from folk, rock, and indie to new country and set to writing a new album.

He performed all over the West Georgia area between 2014-2015 and this year decided to go even further, already recording three tracks and hoping to complete his album by the end of the year.

The summer tour is named after his first released single ‘Summer in the South,’ and the concert will also feature RG Entertainment as the DJ.

Gates will open for the show on May 27 at 3:30 PM. Alcohol will not be permitted at the all ages family friendly show.

Other stops on Hudgins’ ‘Summer in the South’ Tour include Astatula, FL (May 28), Lagrange, GA (June 10 and June 24), Chapin, SC (June 15), and Yazoo, MS (July 22). For more information, visit the tour event page on Facebook.
