Sweet 16 State Playoff Preview: Braves at Lamar Co.

(Franklin) — The Heard County Braves will travel to Barnesville to take on the Lamar County Trojans in the second round (Sweet 16) best-of-three series of the 2016 GHSA Class AA State Baseball Playoffs.

The series will begin with a doubleheader on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. with each team needing two wins to advance to the Elite-8.

If the teams split Wednesday’s doubleheader, the two teams will play a third and deciding rubber “if” game at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday also in Barnesville.

The winner of the series will take on the winner of the Harlem/Holy Innocents series May 10-11. An interesting note to the series with the Lamar County is that it will be a preview of a Region 5-AA matchup next season after realignment is implemented.
