Tanner Collins scores first Crate win at Talladega Short Track

(Franklin, GA) — Local dirt track driver Tanner Collins scored a big win last Saturday at the CRM Motors CRUSA 604 Crate Late model feature event held at The Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama.

The victory in the highly competitive race was the first Crate win for Collins who has been racing cars for several years after getting his start as a youngster driving go carts.

In the 10 lap heat race, the team drew a P3, and was able to quickly take the lead to earn P2 for the main.

Collins took the lead on lap four and never looked back leading for the next 16 laps.

The HCHS graduate and former Braves baseball player was elated to get the win at the track near the storied Talladega Superspeedway that features Nascar events.

“TEAM 24 finally got the win we have been chasing. Every week we are learning more and more and it’s all coming together,” said Collins after the race.

Collins was thankful to all who make his racing possible.

“First and foremost, we are thankful for the opportunity our Lord and Savior gives us to chase this dream and do what we love. The blessings upon us are just continuous,” Collins stated.

“Our pit crew, Clint Smith, Austin Horton and many others who have passed along knowledge, we are forever grateful for what you guys have done to get us so far along the journey. Our generous sponsors, family and friends who just make it happen — this ones for you!”

Collins will be racing at the Dixie Speedway in Woodstock tomorrow night and his next local race will be at the Senoia Raceway October 23-24.

During the month of October, Tanner Collins Racing will be celebrating all Cancer Survivor’s win in their journey along with Honoring the memory of those who unfortunately have passed from cancer.
