Teenagers in stolen car lead authorities on wild chase

(Franklin, GA) — Five teenagers in a stolen vehicle led authorities on a short but frantic high-speed chase Wednesday evening just south of the city of Franklin.

Georgia State Trooper Garrett Smith says the chase started when he attempted to pull over a Black 2018 Nissan Versa for speeding at 84 MPH in a 65 MPH zone on HWY 27 and finally ended when he was able to perform a pit maneuver on the vehicle near mile marker four and Byrd Road on HWY 27.

During the chase, the teens in the stolen vehicle turned down Pea Ridge Road and onto Franklin Parkway before turning into the Tuscan Hills subdivision.

The teens were forced to turn around in the dead-end subdivision and nearly collided with multiple vehicles before exiting back onto the parkway and eventually re-entering HWY 27.

Following the pit manuever by GSP that wrecked the Nissan, the occupants attempted to flee the scene and four were eventually detained, but one unidentified individual escaped and likely has left the area.

The 15-year-old juvenile driver of the vehicle was transported to the Martha K. Glaze Regional Youth Detention Center and faces a laundry list of charges.

Three other teens in the car were arrested including one female from Franklin. Kashima Tucker, age 19, of Franklin is charged with Theft/Stolen Property and No Seatbelt.

Derrick Ford, age 19, of Columbus, GA is charged with Theft/Stolen Property, Obstruction, Marijuana less than an ounce., and No Seat Belt.

Jaylon Dobbins, age 17, of Columbus, GA is charged with Theft/Stolen Property and No Seatbelt.
