The Dedication of the Heard Citizen

I would like to personally welcome everyone to the Heard Citizen. One of the things I am most excited about is this Feature section of the site. This section will contain in-depth human interest stories about many different things, places, and most especially people who have made or are making a positive impact on Heard County. The first citizen I will be featuring will be someone who was truly close to me and who along with his mother made an impact on my life that will never be forgotten. Not only did this person make an impact on me but he also made an impact on our entire community and he did it all in only a couple of months. For those of you that may not know who I am talking about now you will soon know all about his story as I release the full biography of his life in a four-part series entitled “The Baby Silas Story.” Baby Silas passed away at the tender age of two months but he shined a light on many in this community that will never be extinguished. It is for this and many other reasons that I would like to formally dedicate The Heard Citizen to Baby Silas Lane Kirkpatrick (4/13/11-6/14/11). The small initials SLK will always reside somewhere in the citizen’s header image. Right now it is on the bottom right corner. R.I.P. Baby Silas… I hope that my story about you will properly purvey to everyone just how important you really were to our community…

Russ, words can never fully express what you mean to my family and to Silas. The tears in my eyes are sadness for the loss of him but, also, for the joy of knowing he had such an impact on the lives of so many people in his 2 months on this planet. 🙂

  8. Beautiful!
