Tigers Sweep Braves

The Lady Braves (10-2) basketball team traveled to Troup High School Tuesday night to face the Tigers (10-4) in a rematch from a match-up in early December in Franklin.

The first time around the Braves topped the Tigers 60-53 but this time was much different as Shamiya Brooks led the Tigers to a resounding 64-46 win.

Brooks led the Tiger scoring with 18 points in addition to many rebounds and Tanisha Jackson also added 14 points.

The game was close early on and the deficit for the Braves was only five at the half but the Tigers opened the second half on a 16-6 run and never looked back.

Jemeka Parks led the way for the Lady Braves with 20 points.

Reece Walker who battled an early ankle injury scored 10 points including two first half 3-pointers but was never able to get on track as she displayed a noticeable limp throughout the game.

In the boys game, Coach Keith and company showed some improvement and actually outscored the Tigers 13-7 in the second quarter but nonetheless fell 72-43 to the more experienced and bigger Tigers (10-4) team.

The Braves (0-11) spread the scoring around a lot with Duranta Dunson getting 15 points, Jonathon Hunt scoring 12, and Damon  Pearson adding 10. Both teams will travel to Columbus this Friday night to take on the Red Jackets of Jordan (6:00/7:30).
