(Franklin) — Two local men were transported to Piedmont Newnan Hospital after being involved in a rear-end collision Tuesday evening at around 7:00 p.m. on Hwy 34 near Powers Crossroads.
According to the report issued by the Georgia State Patrol, A 1994 Toyota pickup truck was stopped to make a left turn when it was struck in the rear by a 2010 Toyota Corolla while both vehicles were headed eastbound towards Newnan. Upon impact, the pickup truck rotated and overturned into a ditch.
The driver of the pickup, 59-year-old Quellian Lynn Barker of Franklin, remains hospitalized at Piedmont Newnan this morning.
According to his granddaughter, Ashley M. Noles, Barker was in stable condition with a concussion and a large cut in the back of his head as he underwent testing Tuesday night.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla, 18-year-old Cory Curtis Hicks of Franklin, was treated and released from Piedmont Tuesday evening with no major injuries. Hicks was charged with following too closely and failure to exercise due care.
